March 2021
Dear friends of the RSA Choir
Welcome to our first letter for 2021; we hope it will be a year without Covid interruptions as we have a full schedule of public events planned.
2021 ANZAC Revue ANZAC Day is not too far away and we are planning our first major concert of the year. It will be held in the Dunedin Town Hall and have a celebratory note being the replacement for our centenary revue which was postponed from last year.
For details of that concert and our guests refer to the Events page.
VOCAL SCHOLARSHIPS This year sees the awarding of our 21st Vocal Scholarship to Alexander McAdam. Alex is studying at Otago University and some may recall seeing him as our soloist at our Armistice Day Concert late last year.
As the scholarship lasts for three years, he joins Emma McClean and Lillian Gibbs who are midway through their scholarships. We look forward to hearing them all during the course of the year at our mid year Scholars’ Concert.
SUBSCRIBERS We are very pleased to announce that the Subscribers’ Scheme, which was put into abeyance last year, has been restarted.
The new rates continue to be very reasonable and we hugely appreciate the support of the hundreds who pay ‘subs’ and make donations.
OUR WEBSITE As a centenary project our website has been completely renewed. The old one was hacked/blocked, reportedly from a foreign power who thought that we might be part of the military (!). Visit us at https://www.dunedinrsachoir.co.nz/
NEW SINGERS There are health benefits from being in a choir! As one of our mature guys said ‘ my doctor is amazed how good my lungs are and said, whatever you are doing, keep doing it’. You can of course, do it with us! Just contact any choir member and come along to any of our weekly practices to see if it suits you.
Finally, we look forward to seeing you and your friends at our concerts and events during the year. Thanks again for your support.

October 2020
Dear friends of the RSA Choir
We hope this letter finds you well.
Wow. What a year. Its October and we are yet to hold our first public concert!
The choir, like most other organisations, hibernated during the necessary lockdowns but we are now back into full rehearsals preparing for our next concert.
Our next concert will be held on Armstice Day,Wednesday 11th of November in Knox Church starting at 7.00 pm
This event will be a combined concert with St Kilda Brass an exciting mix which both organisations are greatly looking forward to.
Given that we have not been offering our normal Subscribers’ Concerts, we have not sought levies from our regular subscriber’s, but we thank those who sent in a donation in anyway! Much appreciated.
Tickets are $20. (With students and children, $10) and may be pre purchased off any member of the RSA Choir or St Kilda Brass from 1 November.
Otherwise door sales from 6 pm and cash only please as it speeds things up.
It will be general admission so be there early if you want to secure a prime seat.
The only other news is that given Covid, we have postponed our Centenary to 2021. Our first big public event for 2021 will be our ANZAC Day Revue.
In the meantime, mark your RSA Choir calendar and we look forward to seeing you on Wednesday 11 November at Knox Church.
Warm regards
Kevin
