August Concert 2014:
The theme for the concert was 'We'll be home for Christmas (1914)' reflecting the 100th anniversary of the beginning of the First World War and consistent with this we sang a First World War Medley, Roses of Picardy and Danny Boy. In addition, the choir met the challenge of performing items of an exciting nature new to our repertoire under the inspiring direction of our new conductors Karen and Rosemary. These included Jonah, Stand by Me, Ain't She Sweet, Always Look on the Bright Side of Life, and What Shall we do with a Drunken Sailor, as well as some from our library, such as Speed your Journey. We greatly enjoyed singing to a large appreciative audience and listening to their very complimentary comments after the show. The concert was enhanced by superb singing from our guest artists, the Barock choir from Otago Girls' and Otago Boys' High Schools (also led by Karen Knudson), the enchanting Dunedin Harmony Chorus, and in our tradition of support for young singers, two of our Vocal Scholars, Clinton Fung and Sam Madden. It was a great time!
